The Direction of Love

In Matthew 6:6, Jesus says, "If you want to pray, enter your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will cause your whole human nature to blossom, bloom and flourish.” What a beautiful invitation from the Divine! In this clip, Father Thomas Keating describes how Centering Prayer responds to this invitation. Because the intellect is simply not enough to commune with God, we must cultivate silence, and silent communion with God. As we do so, we let God into our being and begin to love: God, ourselves, others, and eventually the entire world.
