Does Mystical Mean Ineffable?

 Download/stream mp4 (iPad, iPhone, etc.)

You hear it all the time: you can't talk about spiritual experiences because they are ineffable, beyond the limits of language altogether. While it is understandable why a person might think this, the equation of mysticism with the ineffable has hindered acceptance of spiritual experiences in modern and post-modern thought, because modern and post-modern thought tends to view only effable experiences as real. But, as Ken talks about here, it's not impossible to communicate mystical insight, it's just that the language to describe it is still emerging, and not always accessible to to those who do not share the experience. This is the challenge to the fledgling integral community: to develop the language as we develop the ideas, collectively naming the face of tomorrow, moment by moment.
