Evolutionary Consciousness: The Bridge between Zen Practice and Integral Theory

If Zen Buddhism has flourished for the past 2500 years, why should we apply the Integral framework to the Zen tradition? Diane Musho Hamilton Sensei describes evolutionary consciousness as the bridge in the territory between Zen practice and Integral theory. She also makes the necessary point of the Buddha’s insight: that there is no separate self, therefore, the insight that everything is you, is an Upper Left (individual-interior) insight. And this UL insight informs how you participate in the Lower Left (collective-interior), Lower Right (collective-exterior), and Upper Right (individual-exterior) dimensions of your own experience. If you're trying to make sense of the relationship between Zen and the Integral Map, this dialogue will help.
