Money and the Spiritual Path
Money, they say, is the root of all evil. But lack of money, George Bernard Shaw reminds us, is also the root of all evil. While many spiritual traditions teach us to be wary of our attachments to money, so too is it vitally important that we avoid becoming too attached to poverty. And when noticing that suffering exists on both sides of the coin, one thing may become clear: when it comes to money, it's damned if you do, damned if you don't—but in the end, it's a hell of a lot more fun being damned for the doing. Sure, money can't buy love, we all know that. But love can certainly infuse our own relationships with money, so that wealth becomes a natural expression of enlightenment, rather than just an obstacle in our path toward enlightenment....
