There is a big emphasis on "change" these days. Some say our world is in crisis and that a shift in people's perspectives must come about in order to find new values to guide our decision making. Historically speaking, this kind of change often emerged within academia. The synergy of youth and wisdom found within academia was a catalyst for many previous movements. Is that still the case? Ken says that it is, but perhaps less so than it was before. Many academics who received tenure 20 years ago staked their career on deconstructionism (a Green or relativistic level of development), but now that more comprehensive ways of thinking are evolving, will they be able to let go of this ingrained philosophy, or will a new generation of scholars pave the way?
