Conscious Reincarnation?
Download/stream mp4 (iPad, iPhone, etc.)
In this video Ken discusses the "theory" and lack of evidence of reincarnation--the idea that some aspect of our being "transmigrates" after death. In order to approach this complex question, we must first inquire what or who it is that transmigrates—the eternal self, or the finite self? The ever-present "I Amness" at the core of experience, or the collection of memories, dreams, emotions, and accomplishments that define our human lives? Ken then discusses the notion of "conscious reincarnation," the alleged ability of some great Masters in the Karmapa Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism to predict the specific time and place of their next birth. These Karmapas go so far as to leave a note as to where they will appear just before dying. Ken's response is that he does not know what is true when, that this is one issue which he is agnostic about, and that if someone leaves a note, it should be shown to the world as evidence. If they do not, what other motive could they have for hiding it other than power? This video offers clarity about the notion of reincarnation.
