What are your current and future "ways of being"?
If you had to choose one character from any book, movie or fictional story to represent your “Current Way of Being,” who would that be and why? Who would you choose to represent your desired “New Way of Being?"

Current ways of being - stranger than fiction
Posted August 5th, 2009 by Carolyn WinterThere are times where I feel like the Emma Thompson charactor in the movie "Stranger than Fiction" - though I wish I could turn it off and on a bit more precisely! As she wrote up teh story of her charactor the life of someonein the world started to change as though he were a puppet and she the puppeteer. It was a great movie from the point of view of consciousness. Would rather be the village psychic in the Midsomer Murder episode "Beyond the Grave" played by Prunella Scales (Fawlty Towers) probably because she rides an adult tricylce! LOL (I got one for myself)
I find it fascinating to focus on say a world situation, a place of devastation that needs some help or coherence; visualizing a hoped for outcome and saying heartfelt prayers. Movement in any positive direction I can discern on the news then makes me feel like I made a positve difference. A little disappointing when the news is not great- but I still focus on what positive outcomes there may have been unclaimed by the media as they are.

The Character Maxi
Posted August 7th, 2009 by Mary Linda LandauerI wrote a novel and self published it in 2007. I started writing this book back in 1995. Little did I realize at the time so much of my own unconscious life was starting to emerge through the character Maxi. I also realize now this book was about my own dark night of the soul and ego transcendence. This book was written to help me get through some of the most grueling and gut wrenching emotional pain that I had repressed for most of my life. During and after writing the manuscript, which I kept buried in a box for years, began this long, dark period. The fears of my unusual paranormal experiences, growing up in a very fundamentalist family and culture, made me believe something dark and bad was within me.
Today this character Maxi is exactly my desired way of being. Her courage and grit through out this dark period became my courage and grit. When the pain felt over-whelming with thoughts of insanity, she went deeper into her own heart and found her soul. And I found my soul. Today I realize the very things that I was so terrified of, and that I thought others would label me as insane, have become the gifts that have transformed me and given me my true purpose and uniqueness. I love Maxi and I finally love myself.

Thank you for a true Appreciative Inquiry question :)
Posted May 27th, 2009 by BaldurThe answer was pretty interesting and natural, when thinking back.
Now I need to align actions and timeframe to B that.
