What is your hope for the future of feminism and masculism?
What do you think are the current limitations of gender roles in our society? How can these movements grow and change to support the development of men and women alike?
Hello there: This topic seems very crucial to my mind. I think it is made more complex by the requirement, as individuals, to integrate ourselves psycho-sexually, at this higher levels of development. So we have the need as individuals, to do psycho-sexual integration work, and as a collective, to move beyond current limitations in gender roles. In terms of gender roles, this challenge is very personal to my experience in the workplace, where I am a member of a research group that focuses on gender and sex-based analysis, within a postmodern feminist frame. I am dedicated to being authentic, so it will be interesting to see what happens this next year...I can say that as I anticipate working with this group, I sometimes feel de-energized, while at other times, I look forward to the opportunity of bringing forward balancing perspectives, such as research on domestic violence that demonstrates women's role in such violence (as one example).
