Bodhisattvas in Hell

 Download/stream mp4 (iPad, iPhone, etc.)

In this clip, a female Boddhisattva asks Ken a question. She works all over the globe in painful and difficult situations. Here she speaks of working with young boys, imprisoned in Tanzania (some as young as ten), many of whom are orphaned; what her experience was; and the sorrow that she feels as result. In fact, it stopped her in her tracks. She wonders how she can go on, particularly since her tradition (Buddhism) says that the key to happiness is to cherish others. She says that she does not feel this "cherishing" now, she only feels sorrow. Ken opens to her sorrow, says that she should not try to change it, that she too should open to it, and opening to it will allow her to connect with other human beings, at their level of development, in their circumstances, which takes great courage. He also encourages her to touch in to the awakened space that she already is. Without it, serving in a relative world, filled with pain and sorrow, is nearly impossible. This woman's courage and commitment, and Ken's willingness to meet her sorrow and tenderness, is a lesson in itself.
