"The Most Intense Satori You Could Imagine...."
The creator of Holosync on the ways in which brain-mind machines can help accelerate conscious transformation....
Bill Harris
Bill Harris is the President and Director of Centerpointe Research Institute and the creator of Holosync audio technology. For the past thirty-five years, Bill has been intimately involved in the field of personal growth, with a specific interest in the effects of neurotechnologies on human change, evolution, and growth. Since 1989, over 150,000 people have used Holosync’s binaural sound engineering.
Bill begins the conversation by recalling some of the initial experiences he had while experimenting with the binaural beat in the late eighties. While using this audio technology he had five weeks "of the most intense satori that you could imagine." But after that period, the binaural soundtracks started to lose their potency and the experience faded—a major bummer. Bill proceeds to explain the steps that he and his colleagues took to remedy this situation and attempt to make brain-mind technology more successful in the long run.
This leads to a fascinating discussion about why some of these technologies seem to work and some do not, and the nature of transformation itself. As both Bill and Ken agree, brain-mind machines induce changes in brain states (Upper Right), which are correlated with changes in states of mind or consciousness (Upper Left). Modern research has confirmed this theory, and ancient wisdom supports it as well. Ken explains that both the Hindu and Buddhist traditions propose that for every state of consciousness there is a corresponding body or energy that supports it. Waking states (beta and alpha brainwaves) are supported by a gross body (e.g., Nirmanakaya). Dreaming states (theta brainwaves) are supported by a subtle body (e.g., the Sambhogakaya). Deep-dreamless sleep states are supported by a causal body (e.g., Dharmakaya). Subjective, interior experiences (UL) co-arise with objective, exterior correlates in a body (UR), and if you modify the latter (e.g., by brain-mind machines), you affect the former (and vice versa).
Perhaps most interesting, research suggests that repeated changes in states of consciousness accelerate growth through the stages of consciousness. Whereas the three great states of consciousness are available to anyone (because we all wake, dream, and sleep), stages of consciousness unfold and develop over time. Stages create structures in the psyche that allow higher states to become permanent acquisitions.
Many kinds of state experiences help balance and normalize body, mind, and spirit at any stage of development. By making the current stage as healthy as possible, the likelihood of one growing to the next stage is dramatically increased. Thus, altered states, held in an integral framework, can serve to integrate the self at its present level of development and help provide a stable platform for further growth.
Indeed, this is an exhilarating time to be exploring the realms of brain and mind, and we invite you to give a listen, and join in the excitement of leading-edge research in consciousness transformation....
