The Secret to Transformation

The Latest on Sri Aurobindo

Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950) was one of the most important figures in integral philosophy and one of the first to bring spirituality into an evolutionary framework. His mystical journey started on the later side, in his mid-30’s, after a short political career and incarceration as one of the first voices of India’s liberation from British rule. In this clip, Michael Murphy talks about Aurobindo’s upcoming biography by Peter Hees, and postulates about how his move from focusing on knowledge acquisition and practice to codifying his teachings and developing a community in the 1930’s may have been a premature shift that prevented him from fully laying down a map of the high evolutionary unfolding that he had accessed.
