Integral Fiction for a Brand New Day

As techno-economic networks of societal structure change in the Lower Right Quadrant, the shared sense of meaning established through cultural constructs changes in the Lower Left Quadrant.  As these collective cultural changes happen in the Lower Left Quadrant, an individual must redirect his or her habits of intention and attention in the Upper Left Quadrant in order to skillfully present his or her own message in the newly emergent cultural context in which he or she exists.  In the Upper Right Quadrant, this appears as a change in behavior, which is often exemplified through the individual use of some relatively new technology as a way to exhibit new patterns of interaction with one's world.

As an integral fictionist, I am very interested in determining what the fiction of the iPod, Facebook, and Twitter generation looks like.  Thus, I am engaging in a bit of a fiction experiment.  Through my Twitter account, which you can follow @iFiction, I am going to write a series of "stories" or "fictions" that exist exclusively within the confines of Twitter's 140-character-per-post limit.  Due to this length constraint, you will be able to read each one within a matter of moments, but I will try to allow each example of this practice to carry us to what can be said, in a sense, to be a wholly new world.

The goal of this experiment will be to expose the forces at work in the creation of fiction, and to examine them through an integral lens.  What separates, for example, so-called "fiction" from so-called "plain speech"?  At what point is a fiction constructed, and how can we use this knowledge to create more integral fiction, not just in literature but in our daily lives?  As Stuart Davis points out, all the things we say we do throughout our existence in this planet are just "bullshit narratives," stories we construct to make sense of our world.  It's all fiction.  Thus, uncovering an integral theory and praxis of fiction, which is a process I attempt to begin here, may be one of the most important ventures the AQAL model can enable.

By the way...

Due to the brevity and sheer number of these exercises, I won't be posting them on this blog; you'll have to follow my Twitter account, iFiction.
