New School

I think many of us here would agree that one of the most sorely needed initiatives in our society today is a more integral approach to education.  Education systems around the world have fallen into a degree of stagnation, using old and outdated models left over from the industrial age that are entirely insufficient in preparing our children for the challenges of an increasingly complex global society.  It seems to me a transformation in education is direly needed, one that focuses on using an understanding of the developmental process to meet students where they are and cultivate creativity.  If we are to attempt to bring forth such a transformation in education at large, it makes sense to begin with very young children, to create a demand for a new, more experiential learning process, a process where one is excited and invigorated by education, as we move forward.

I recently came across the website for The Blue School, a school for young children created by the original members of the Blue Man Group.  The Blue Man Group always struck me as a very integral sort of performance piece, and I think they continue to exemplify an integral impulse in their work with this school.  It could be a vital first step in an emerging process of transformation in education.
