Successor to the Lineage

[Poet's Note: I'm working on a spec pilot script for a television show called Diana Durbeyfield and the Glorious God Police.  This is a poem about the title character, who was partially inspired by Stuart Davis' Sexy Messiah]

 

Diana Durbeyfield

Real

Believing

From the mists of the unknown acre

Full

Perceiving

That daring, damnable Diana Durbeyfield

Lapsed Catholic

Faith-Ecstatic

No laments

Diana Presents…

 

A brand new day

New messianic tactic

A new mode of believing

Pop-culture fanatic

I'm reminded of Joan of Arcadia. And also the recent interview with Carolyn Myss (sp?). Whatever you do, don't bash or mock religious practice. I would love to ass-u-me that this is a given, but I've seen it in Integrallers and it just makes me cringe.
