2nd person didn't work for me
Posted July 28th, 2010 by Alan Goldberg
In Reference to:
Practice: The Three Faces of SpiritI agree with Robert; the 2nd person guided meditation asking to focus on an image of the divine created a roadblock and took me out of the meditation. I have been familiar with the work of understanding the 1st P, 2ndP, 3rdP perspective of the divine for several years, but this meditation was very dificult because of the above noted instruction. if I were to lead a meditation like this, I would rather ask the meditator to add "focus on an image that has divine attributes" or"no image / nothingness".

Hi, Alan
Posted July 30th, 2010 by Jennifer GroveI'm sorry you had a bad trip here. I'm very concerned about people who have had ordeals around this issue because I get most of my transformative energy from the 2nd Person of God practices and I sense real rifts between the two or three camps.
I'm starting to suspect that Trauma is Trauma, and it doesn't much matter what the Trauma Object is: parent, deity, teacher, earthquake, etc. When it is encountered in the world, something reliable arises in the self in a very patterned way.
Can you say more about what arose in you when she was going thru the exercise?
