Is the future of Christianity to Go Green?

Along with the integral movement, I have noticed that society in general has expanded it's range of compassion to include all life.  The 60's brought the explosion of the world-centric view, and the 70's and 80's marked the falling of one prejudice after another. (race, sex, age, religion, sexual preferrence, etc...)

I sense that this expansive, plural 3rd person compassion of the world-centric view is expanding to all life.  The perspective is expanding so that many in society can see the earth as a complete ecosystem.  Do you think that it is important to help the Church go Green?

Typically, the Church has lagged social change, but would it be possible to help the Church care for all life?  If I approached a church and explained humanity as being finite and their compassion is developing and expanding to include all life, do you think the Church will buy into it?  I would hate to see Christianity lag behind the Green movement too.  I think the Catholic church may be heading in that direction, although I am not in contact with any church at the moment.  Do you know which denominations would be most promising?
