I've read over this post and I am not finding the ish reference that you have elaborated on in this critique of my writing/thinking style.

I have several thoughts on this issue about which you may feel squeamish, and more generally about your charge around this and me such that you select out a small detail in the post to address me through. My fantasy is that the Annie and acknowledgement bit was mainly an entre to getting to something you could critique. (I'm aware that you react a bit skittishly sometimes when people make comments about the left upper quadrant of others, including yourself, but I have a different and longer take on that and how it is part of entire quadrants and quadrivial embracing.)

Let me start generally. I think that the new hip word that fits my sense of our relationship is "frienemy". But actually there are moments when I feel affection, even warmish affection for you in what you bring to integral and how you inhabit yourself. I have plenty of respect for you in how you are you. I also think that sometimes you seem to me like a characterologically angry person and that can show up as precision-meanness, and sometimes you seem full of shit to me, not always ish. Whether and when you really are or not, and whether that 'diagnosis' is presumptuous or not, and whether it is out of line with your quirky LUQ exclusionary standards or not, I have respect for that and make room for that. I am glad you are here and I could imagine you as a friend. I am not unlike you (a verbal alternative to ish), in many ways. Always context dependent. And if it be somewhat true how I characterized you, in various contexts, I share some of that. Ok. Given, that, what now. Onward we go.

I think that the "ish" convention could be called high school or juvenile or sloppy or lazy thinking, and even more of this mild denigration. Three things:

One, I can find in me agreement for your declaration of disrespect for that convention and my use of it. You captain a tight verbal and cognitive ship; it is generally tidy. Probably being an attorney has honed your languaging in various sharp ways, and laid down habits of careful writing, review, and editing. An attorney can not afford to have a motion or other legal document go out with form that can be criticized or will evoke unnecessary negative judgements. You have been schooled in tight and tidy conventions. A good thing to have had engrained in that way. I also acknowledge that you have found plenty of room for creativity and inspiring communications within and maybe departing your second-nature verbal abilities. Cool enough. Great gifts and tools that can be used in a variety of ways and for a variety of motives.

Two, ish can convey more than you suggest, and though high school or sub-conventional, or all the rest, I think it is useful. Say you are not an artist and not aesthetically educated or inclined. You know basically the names of colors of the rainbow. You want to describe to a policeman quickly what the color of jacket was of the pickpocket who took off with the lady's purse. You say it was reddish. You might also say, or not, that it was not quite pink and maybe had a tiny bluish hue to it. Unlike the artist, you can't nail it as a particular color on one interior designer's sample patch. Also, call it lazy, maybe, or ignorant at this point in time, but you also don't have a current gift for psychological description. You call the little boy shy, and then add ish. You don't know whether it is exactly timidity or he is temperamentally standoffish, or what. So you do what you can. It seems unnecessary to critique the person who uses that convention, though he be ignorant at that moment or a bit tired or lazy. 

Three, these are all, apparently variations in ability and predisposition that are in the range of normal. I am only sometimes, postconventional, and sometimes I haven't arrived at conventional. There are so many flaws in my writing and thinking and emotional contaminations, and I think I am generally improving with the thousand and one plus things that could be more refined. Sometimes I try to be too clever, sometimes I use smiley emoticons for reasons that aren't really a smile, sometimes I split infinitives, and make up words in quasi retarded ways - so sue me :)

But what I want to know, if you don't show me the ish in thish post of mine, and if you can identify and acknowledge a mental error, how is it that you came to project ish into this. Was this pushed from an emotional charge and contamination left over from past engagements with you. Are you here, now, busted? And is the clock now ticking even louder as to when you can even the score?

I would not be surprised if you saw my "isness" and amidst your inner turnings, that and other things brought up the ishness.

Hi Layman - I'm wondering do you see the music that continues as the individual's music (and does he/she have even an inkling of the song once the human vehicle for sound has broken), as a collective song that continues in the symphony of ongoing human radios, a song that is primarily a cosmic thrumming so vast that though the deceased radio (and, additionally, continuing billions of known humans) had some vibrational part in it, what we hear is the incomprehensibly huge cascade of cosmic dynamism. Is it anthopocentric projecting that tunes in and identifies and holds on through overlain memory and belief the song of the deceased? I wonder about this.

I favor the smaller part that man on earth plays in regard to the question of ongoing song. When this great and gifting sun explodes, will the human song be still heard above the rushing sounds of cosmic change?

I suppose that the song will continue in God's smiling ears. Which might raise some related questions about how we think things work.

Any thoughts, intuitions, discernments coming from these images?
