Blogging on Integral Life and Tracking Tools
Here is my sitemeter button. I'm not sure what it does but am fascinated with buttons. Feel free to click it and tell me what you find.
Why I have it:
If I'm going to use this site exclusively for blogging, there's going to have to be some way for me to be able to track or monitor reader interest in my blog. I don't necessarily have to know "who" reads my blog. Nor, for that matter, do I even need comments, email, or yes/no votes to continue blogging. Just a simple blog hit counter for my individual entries to know whether they are being intercepted and read by other people. And, if so, by how many people and how often?
Needless to say, I find the intersubjective space of "we" and dialogue at the Integral Life community to be far more rewarding and stimulating than the creepy monological space of I or it at Myspace. But it would also be helpful to have traffic information here so that I can somehow figure out and monitor how I am "doing". Most of the time, I do not even know if my posts are read by others, or only by myself. I realize now that much of it is my fault since my posts were too long or too "flaky," as Mark had correctly pointed out. I have since tried to change my post methodology in consideration of complaints or suggestions and have noticed significant improvement in comments and discussions.
I am still trying to figure out how to navigate this site to read other people's posts. When I first began blogging on Myspace, for example, I wasn't aware of the difference between my "home page" and "profile page." I am aware of the Home Page on here and the search engine, but can only access the features that are on audio and the comments to these audios or whatever I can find on a search engine. As for individual blog posts posted by other members, I do not know how to access them nor how other people find my posts.
I avoid the video presentations because my computer constantly freezes when it tries to play videos, resulting in fitful starts and stops throughout the entire video as it plays for two seconds and pauses for 10-15 seconds before playing the next two seconds and then pausing for another 10-15 seconds throughout the entire video, and effectively disrupting my concentration and my desire to watch any videos. The 8-minute video, "Integral Pathologies," for example, took a full 45 minutes to play all the way through with all the fitful starts and stops. This happens to me on Youtube as well so I realize that it's not a technical issue at Integrallife.com but rather a computer or connectivity issue on my end.

Some answers
Posted January 26th, 2009 by Linda HollierHere are answers to one of your questions/comments:
“As for individual blog posts posted by other members, I do not know how to access them nor how other people find my posts”
You can enter a name into the search engine at the top of the page and that will take you to that person’s profile page which contains the articles written by them.
The way people find your posts is via the community page. On the top right is the SHARE button. Just click on it and it will take you to the community page. On this page you will find the “Editor’s Pick” as well as the 8 most recent blog posts. Just click on them to read them in full and if you want to know more about the person writing the post simply click on their name.
The community page also links you to active inquiries and if you click on the button “Active Members” you will be taken to a page which shows you all the most recent comments to various posts that people have made.
Hope this has been of some help.
