Posted February 2nd, 2012 by Bevan
Come and screen the online release of my first feature length movie titled 'Of Games & Escapes', which was inspired by Spiral Dynamics and a "mean green" experience.

the right kind of gritty
Posted February 3rd, 2012 by Layman PascalHi Bevan,
I enjoyed the texture of the film more than its ostensible spiral symbolism (although that was also detectable). I think you did a pretty good job of evoking the complex emotion tensions referenced in Ray Carney's theatrical philosophy.
My two critiques would be
(a) not enough humor (more material like the opening "punch in the face" would be fabulous)
(b) i think "Of Games & Escapes" is too literary a title for a film. of course it conjures the aesthetics of old-school philosophical treatises which are dear to my own heart but it strikes me as somehow out of tempo with the medium of cinema. it slides aside whereas a film, in my observation, should hit straight on: "Games & Escapes" "The Game of Escapes" "Escaping the Game" "Games/Escapes" etc.
Thanks, I've been...
