The epistomology of addiction.
A major distiction that has contributed to my life is in the the contextual space and in the way one knows addiction. We tend to come to know addiction via a society that tell us addiction is not good , it is known for being bad, and thus you as an individual , as an addict, comes to know oneself as bad, as something is wrong with me. In this epistomolgy the epistomology of "what others say "addiction is , leaves out the possibilty of the individual as being cause in the matter of ones addiction , it leaves out the saying so power that the individual has, the creative force that an individual has, over what is occuring in that persons personal space. When one can be responsible for ones addiction one is to longer at the effect of the addiction, one is no longer being a victim to the addiction. One can thus look at the addiction identity and choose to take responsibilty for that addiction and come to know that this identity is not who Iam, thus transcending the indentity and even have enough space to appreciate the addictive identity.
It is occuring in your own personal space , and that is a space that you choose to take responsibility for ,or you dont.
Its not a heavy, significant thing, its how we have come to know it that makes it heavy and significant, and thus making it bigger than the SELF, and we live at the effect of , and victim to the identity we created.

The other side of addiction.
Posted June 30th, 2009 by susan oliverThank you Bill for this blog. By turning addiction around or including it's compliment-other helped me to see how taking responsibility for "any addiction/other" and embracing it rather than labeling or giving it negative meaning can help integrate it into wholeness. Hard to seperate addiction/other from wholeness when it allows the Light to shine in the darkness.
