Obamas Smile
I also am jazzed about Obama being president. He possesess a presence that inspires and motivates. His being grounded in family does call forth hope and connection. And that smile that comes to his face when he sees and talks about his daughters is SPIRITS LOVE in action.
The ironic thing for me is now that I am aware of the developmental path thanks to Kens work ,I am also aware of the more growth we attain the more things can go wrong. Like Ken has said, "dogs get cancer atoms dont".
It has been my experience it takes work to grow and develope. And as President Kennedy asked more than 48 years ago " Asked not what your country can do for you ,ask what you can do for your country". yet myself being raised in the inner city , I was surrounded by people trying to con the government, not contribute to government. And if you created an identity of "sick person" you got a check. Healthy people need not apply. I myself was willing to do the work Kennedy asked of all of us.
I bring this up because this is the mindset that President Obama will being attemting to uplift. The mindset of "entittlement," and of "give me" . The "skeptic " in me says it wont work.He wont be able to get the masses motivated. And I choose to not live my life from my skeptic. I choose to live my life coming from the promising possibilty that "Obamas Smile" for his daughters is empowering all of us to smile the smile of "Yes we can".Now lets go do it. Lets come from living an Integral America. The map of evidence will follow.

Jazzed About
Posted January 30th, 2009 by jon wolstonNice, Bill.
On a related note, jazz (the noun) sounds different to me since the Inauguration to my surprise.
The shift is both linguistic and emotional, which can sometimes be a reliable signifier of changes in consciousness. Listening to Sonny Phillips 1969 Prestige album, "Sure Nuff" the day after, I was startled to abruptly love the music in a new way, deeper than ever. It intensely felt like "my" music, inside me, in my heart, American.
I'm not a jazz musician, only a listener, but enthusiastic enough to trek up to Montreal two years running to the Festival, and hang out with big crowds of other white guys.
What gives? My individual shift in identification in the context of the wider collective holonic shifts reminds me of how in the Civil War era, "United States" (the noun) changed in everyday parlance from plural to singular.
Sure democracy is messy, but every so often there are moments of crystal clarity.
