Complete and Total Freedom, Right Here, Right Now
We sometimes cut ourselves off from the limitless possibilities that exist when instead we cling to an idea or concept. For instance, if a guy gets the idea that he's going to meet the woman he's going to fall in love with and marry on an elevator, then that cuts him off from meeting a lover in all of the infinitely possible places he could meet her. He'll probably spend most of his time hanging out in elevators, which is just boring! Nobody even talks or looks at each other on an elevator. It's a way too uncomfortable place. In fact, it would be cool if the interior elevator doors were those carnival mirrors that make you look all fat or really really tall and skinny and warped, because then maybe we could all lighten-up and have a good laugh at ourselves. But as it stands, the elevator is a boring place, and it's so limiting to hang on to this idea that this is going to be the one place you're going to meet your lover.
It's the same with all the dogmatic religion, in my opinion. You see this guy saying, "Christ is the only way," and that he's got Christ as his salvation. Meanwhile he's completely miserable and sour and doesn't even look strangers in the eyes and smile. It's like a guy at a lemonade stand trying to sell you lemonade but all he's offering are glasses of sand. And he's insisting it's the best lemonade around. And I'm sorry, but I don't want to drink your sand.
Truth is, how can the door of Truth ever be gracefully opened to you if you're always leaning up against it saying, "I already know?" This whole dogmatic religion thing is quite laughable, quite comical indeed. It both engenders comedy and tragedy at the same time. Because all spirituality is only there to point out to you your own True Nature. It's not meant to be clung to and fought over. It's meant to help you simply see the truth of who you really are, nothing more.
So when we see anything else talked about in religious ideas other than the fact that there is an ultimate reality and that this reality is who you really are, then we've obviously added more to the simple truth than is or has ever been necessary. All of it is like needless layers of sweaters on a hot summer day. And so many billions are not only sweating their asses off needlessly, but they're also choking themselves to death with all of these glasses of sand their drinking.
