Enlightenment is No Big Deal

We make realization and the end to all suffering such a big deal in reference only to our own idea of the suffering we've experienced. In reality, enlightenment is no big deal. It's as big a deal as the hair on your head. It means nothing, for it exists and has always been so. Why make something into a big deal and cause others to be jaded and to feel further way from the core that is in fact unavoidable and always already here?

It's simple to be aware of awareness. Why make a big deal out of the only deal? Who among us can claim that anyone of us isn't already complete and perfect as we are in this Natural State?

The seeker identity does not want to find, for to do so would effectively kill the seeking identity. Not a single one of us is without awareness, which is the ground of all being. I understand the feeling of joy and the poetic verses that spontaneously arise in order to express the relief from all suffering. But it really tends to throw people off and make them think they don't already have it. And that's plain untrue.

"Before I was a person seeking freedom. Now there is only freedom without a person."

                                                        John Wheeler

It's all so simple. #1: Can you say there is a presence that exists and is aware?

#2: What is this? Who am I?

#3: There is no number 3.

#4: What resists this simplicity that all the great sages and teachers from Buddha to Ramana to Nisargatta have said is in fact your True Nature? What is it that would have it be any more complex than this? Whatever it is, it surely is not you. For you exist with or without this complex seeking.

#5: Wouldn't it be true to say that whatever this glorious and only existence is, whether we even call it "Universe" or "God" or "Self," etc., wouldn't you, as this, make it the most simple thing imaginable to discover your own True Nature? Wouldn't you have it be as simple as keeping your heart beating, or your billions of cells functioning in continual harmony? And where does this leave the spiritual market place?
