Ideas on Fractal Ordering & Such

In its essence, I am arguing that there is a parallel between the quadrants and development. Namely, that we have primary focus within particular quadrants as we grow... this pattern would in some real sense reach back into the animal realm and even, i think, into the plant domain. This Primary focus allows room for the co-arising of the four-quadrants. i.e. that they are ever-present just our focus on and within them shifts as we grow/develop.

To clarify, on earth (in general agreement with academic theories and integral) it took about thirteen billion years to develop impulsive beings. These beings can subjectively fulfill their own needs (without self-reflexivity) notice that the transition from the first forms of life until the development of reptiles was one of increasing mobility. Until, with the rise of reptiles, there is a degree of mobility and self-direction that had never been possible with beings on the planet up to that point (including mobility in both water and land). Although there is some degree of inter-subjective relations within the reptilian species it is minimal (maybe 25% of the reptiles focus arguably) with about 50% on fulfilling impulsive needs as a primary focus. (although all four-quadrants are ever-arising)

With the evolution of birds, you're seeing a hybrid between reptiles and mammals. I'd argue that they are now in the subjective-space of the new inter-subjective domain (flocking patterns ect... some of these patterns are seen in late reptiles). When you see the rise of the mammals proper they are express inter-subject, inter-subjectivity as a primary focus. With late mammals you are seeing the development of early self-awareness (again expressing approximately 25% pattern of the level higher self-reflexivity - I would say that infra-red is also a mature expression of this. As some developmentalists note that when a magical-thinker puts on a mask of an animal they may think they have taken on the identity of that animal. They are transiting to the self-reflective stages of development or objective realm as a primary focus. So this shift has added inter-subjectivity to the list... this being can now express a form of both subjectivity and inter-subjectivity.

When RED comes online the individual has developed through the domains of reptiles subjective impulsivity (reptilian brain-stem), mammals inter-subjectivity (limbic system) and now activated early become self-reflexive proper, or early objectivity (from a subjective gaze). Amber adds inter-subjectivity within the domain of objectivity and Orange is the expression of objective-objective or, the summit of humanness in a sense. Green is the beginning realization of a new way of being (interpreted from an objective worldspace). That higher worldspace is inter-objectivity. This is the beginning understanding of the requirement and/or denial  of something higher than individuated autonomy. this realization paradoxically arises from the expressions in and through the creations made by ones self-reflexive autonomy (i.e. objects created by the objective lens of the human being). Teal and higher leap into this space that is yet properly online as a whole system/understanding - the noosphere) In other words those leaping into 2nd tier are leaping into a space that is radically in the process of being created by mental now inter-objectively autonomous beings -they can minimally feel-into others. The coming online of this realization, if this pattern is right and holds, would starting in the techno-noosphere would be a subjective expression of the inter-objective domain. (Through felt-sense impulsive-like connection to all? beings). While maintaining ones autonomy as an individuate self-sense... that is capable of reasoning. This system would add some new element to the process of becoming if the pattern holds and that pattern would be at play presently but go unseen by the eyes of humans at this time. Just as reason is above the heads of mammals.

wow - beautiful succinct summary

Brent, I very much enjoy this sort of tour and analysis that includes evolutionary realities that I can feel currently (some) in me in present time. I would probably need to read this a few more times to really get it more solidly. There is a lot here - and when you reach into integral stages of unfolding, I'd need to take awhile to really feel what is meant by inter-objective and even inter-subjective more clearly and more ongoingly. Yet even now at a quick read I feel that you are describing these fulcra well.

As an after-thought, I'm curious what your degree of certainty is on these stages, especially in the "integral" levels? I guess I'm wondering how much of your degree of certainty comes from independent internal feeling into and contemplation and how much is more cognitive-type processing/integrating from studies of what Ken and other evolutionary biologists have presented? It rings well in me and I like it all a lot - and I'm wondering if you can parse out how much is truly known? Something like that? Or am I even way off track in these questions. I suppose that I need to do some work to feel it through for myself and stretch into the integral, not just cognitively, but also the other aspects of self and life that inform and constitute subjectivity and inter-subjectivity. I need to stop playing with these words and take the time to try to enter more experientially the stream that you are suggesting.

Looking for a veteran of the sights advice

Dear Brent, I was wondering if you might offer some veteran advise to me? I am not sure how to get in touch with this community as a whole. I am a graduate student at JFK Universty in Integral psychology and am looking for some rich responses that only a community of this nature can offer. I am asking the question,"in creating a Mainstream(general public) Integral Resource Center , what might need to be modified in language , program and approach for a Mainstream demographic to be receptive to the benefits of Integral?" This is being used for a mixed method research for a Final Project or Thesis. It may not be percieved as very politically correct (gien there are poor everywhere that need help) however given the lingering economic crisis has so greatly impacted the wide public I feel they could benefit from the tools of Integral and look at ways to help relieve suffering and offer opportunity for growth in this demographic as well. I am looking at a template to design for such a demographic.The worldview that is consider for this demo is traditonal and modern worldview.A decision that was made after reading a dialougue with Ken Wilber and Andrew Cohen on mainstream in EnlightenNext Magazine (2004).
