New movie called THRIVE

I came across this movie documentary from Troy Wiley on another post here at IL. I watched it last night and really liked it. It goes through many of the issues I think the Integral community is missing as a whole. And it is done in the lightest way so far.

THRIVE

There are movements that are gaining more attention than Integral. And one of there catching points is the realistic view of the monetary system and the groups that control it. The Zeitgeist Movement( 50 million people), Prison Planet( 5 million) , David Icke( 10 million), etc

Thrive does not come from an integral perspective, but neither is integral seeing where we can be most effect with our problems. Because Integral has not deconstructed the systems in the LR fully. The first step for a solution, I have promoted on IL, is the same as THRIVE , and I see solutions more integrally after this first step. But integral does not see the new energy sources that should be coming. The new energy sources change what we see as global problems drastically. Amazing Coincidences .. :)

I was actually searching in here to see if Troy Wiley had a discussion here about his Integral Zeitgeist presentation ... and I have Thrive on my list to watch in the very next tab ...

but are these the same Troy Wiley?

Will come back to give my take on the movie .. but for now here's some very interesting & totally relevant news from me for now (especially if it does turn out to be the same Troy :)

Troy replied to my concerns of his leaving out the Transition Movement with another presentation, to which I replied in detail .. but then the whole thing was deleted :(

(the most truly integral movement about right now you guys! what's going on!? Totally ignored by integrals.. which I find quite amazing: all the others you mention only have better marketing and 'crowd-pulling' skills ... but since when has radical had anything to do with popular?)

I wish I had kept my reply so am copying below what I posted under his presentation (which is VERY good, do take some time to see it!!), so just in case the same thing happens, I put a copy of what's left on the Integral Zeitgeist thread in here:

10 million people follow David Icke who believes that the ruling elite/illuminati are alien lizards. Is this just Icke using Swiftian satire or are more people still at mythic/magic than we realise?

On the surface

Yes on the surface it looks like a magic mythic orientation, until it has a validity on a psychic level. If the understanding of the reptilian brain stem is brought in and mature somatic knowledge of Alexandria technic, which acting schools use, you can see how it has much validity. The study of parapsychology does have David Icke's expression of reptilian beings as not so easily dismissed. If your stance is of a closed mind( nonjudgemental form) then rationality as individuality is playing. But if the uncontained mind is explored then intelligence is not individualized and the community of the Kosmos can be explored, which is the arena of psychics which for Integral is Third tier. Yes we need to watch the pre/trans fallacy, but have you explored the function of your own reptilian brain and its function of internal space?

David Icke does large and long events around the world, and 10 million is not far off, since he has been doing his events for over twenty years. He is not Integral, but also is looking at evidence Integral does not go into as of yet.

And don't forget that magic is the foundation of everything above it. So what logic is in our subconscious? Magic. Now I think what your point is magical expression. And I'm with you, but if the arena of expression is consciousness and mind control, then the deeper truth would be in the uncontained mind. And I respect the expressions that come from the contained mind assumption that usually runs through orange ( Show me the proof!).

How experienced are you? Any memory of the causal state? What does that look like? Like star beings that transfer intelligence in an infinite SPACE. But don't take my analogy. Go see for yourself. Or did you just forget?

A v. good critique of the movie ..

Very good review, and addresses my basic concerns about the Thrive message.

Only thing missing for me is that it seems to miss the back-cycle - we could (& should) actually design the change but we need to fully take on the full cycle systemics of it all: technology (in the widest sense of all of our cultural creations) also does shape consciousness.

Conspiracy theory as post-modern pathology?

Not a bad review at all. The idea of an all powerful ruling super-elite who poison everyday interaction is a massive form of shadow projection, supported by conspiracy theories which unfortunately get in the way of Thrive's finer points, of which there are many. I'm not sure who said that conspiracy theories are a form of green pathology but the current explosion in the genre testify to this.

I know I'm late

but finally watched the Thrive video and am pretty impressed. Some quick initial thoughts:

I figured that the mainstream Integral response would be shining light on the truths that most conspiracy-types completely miss, and (unfortunately) using those highly developed observations to undermine the whole of the argument and presentation, writing it off as reductionistic “technological utopianism” flawed in it’s basic worldview.

Both views are correct but partial--yes, much of the fear, anger, and “evilness” thrown at the idea of a “powerful global elite hell-bent on world domination” is sourced in shadow projection. That is obvious to anyone with eyes to see it. Does that mean that a global elite doesn’t exist? Looked at with beginner’s mind, it is easy to find evidence of a global takeover in the hands of a few. One does not even have to go too far outside of the mainstream to find evidence of the beginnings of this (Chris Hedges, among others, come to mind).

Yes, interior and cultural development are likely the most important things we can focus on (and certainly the ones we have the most control over). Does that mean that we should avoid seeing the world as it is? This video shows a much more realistic view than the current (Daily Evolver, etc) mainstream Integral perspective that is still lodged in the worldview of CNN: INTEGRAL EDITION. Thrive certainly does not show “the whole story” (if that could be shown), but could be a great conversation starter among the Integral community.

I responded to this article Here. Glad you see it goes both way, technology changing culture and vis versa. But this has never been a equal equation in history. Technology changes society and then culture and individuals in a general pattern change. So I have a real problem for those that go against history and think the solution is a development of the individual. And promote a people need to change view. Very arrogant and subtle nazi form of view. Thanks for caring enough to bring expression to these issues.
