I'm all Wilbered out!
Hi everyone.
I love and appreciate the work of Ken Wilber and I'm sure that everyone on this site would agree that he has made an absolutely incredible contribution to the future of this world. However, after listening to this recording I feel that I'd like to share these thoughts.
After watching the short film on integral coaching put together by Joanne, I was really looking forward to listening to this recording of her and Laura to find out more about their interesting and original application of the integral theory. Instead, what I heard was mainly Ken Wilber, once again explaining the theoretical integral model, rather than hearing about the real world application these women have devised.
I have been a member of Integral Naked and now Integral Life for around a year and a half, and during that time I have enjoyed many of the recordings which are on offer. However, I am growing very tired of Ken explaining the same old theory each and every recording.
Except for the free offers, people who are listening to these recordings are already a member of integral life, and are therefore more than likely already familiar with the basic integral approach. Rather than having to hear it each and every week, perhaps another approach could be taken:
- 1 - Allow guest speakers to familiarise themselves with the integral model off air, a week or so before the recording. This could result in a deeper discussion between Ken and the guest being possible.
- 2 - Rather than explaining the basics of the Integral Model every episode, which takes up at least 5-10 minutes, new listeners could be directed towards a set of recordings which covers these basics.
- 3 - If aspects of the Integral Model need to be clarified, perhaps the guest speakers could do so. Some of these people have been working with the integral model for many years now, and a fresh way of explaining the base map could be quite refreshing.
As I said at the start, I appreciate Ken's contribution more than I can say. My main issue is that in the limited time available for each recording, I would like to see us getting to the core of what each guest has to offer, so that we can all benefit as much as possible from these wise folk.
Regards,
Cam Wilson, Australia

We'll try to address this
Posted July 15th, 2009 by Robb SmithHi Cam, thanks for this perspective, I have been aware that this is an issue amongst some of the intermediate members. I have asked David Riordan, our VP of Media Development, to engineer a solution to this. Stay tuned...

Agreed.
Posted July 15th, 2009 by Aaron JohnsonI'm in agreement here. While these discussions are always fascinating, it would be great if we didn't have to hear the same explanation of the same AQAL basics before we got to the new and interesting part. Lately, and maybe it's just because I've become so much more familiar with the theory, I've been feeling there has been far to much repetition at Integral Life, rehashing the same basics over and over again, when I bet most of the people listening are already familiar with these basic points.
