New Art: Wings of Desire

I re-watched Wim Wenders Wings of Desire the other night.  It had been a few years, but again...amazing.
If you haven't seen it, watch it, please. The movie is about an angel who forsakes immortality and descends to earth to be able to feel the weight of gravity, taste a cup of coffee, feel real palpable experiences, and have the love of a woman he was observing.

There's so much that I love about this film...choosing to engage rather than observe, finding the beauty in all experiences, even pain, knowing we have to embrace it all to truly be human.   The movie inspired me to finish a piece of art I had started a number of years ago...I humbly submit it here for your viewing.

Carl Jacobson - Wings of Desire

Before I go, I'd like to  leave you with some moving lines from the film.  I hope if they resonate with you, you might decide to watch it some day.

It's still going on.
It binds me.
It was true in the night,
and it's true now, during the day
Even more so.
Who was who?
I was inside her,
and she was all around me.
Who in the world can claim that he was ever truly with another being?
I am together.
No mortal child was conceived, only an immortal shared image.
I learned to be amazed last night
She came to take me home
and I found home
It happened once.
"Once upon a time,"
and so it will be.
The image that we created
will be with me when I die.
I will have lived within it.
Only my amazement
at the two of us,
my amazement
at man and woman,
has turned me
into a human being.
I…
know…
now…
what…
no…
angel…
knows...

Angel-a

--Hi, Carl. I think I haven't seen this, or at least remember seeing it. I'll be more likely to see it now.

Have you seen the French film by Luc Besson called Angela? A friend and I watched it several days ago. It is wonderful for me. Also an angel came to earth to help a scurrilous wastrel and con guy. Being informed by so much in this integral world here made me resonate with so much. Yeah, great, also.

Thanks.

Remake

I have seen City of Angels with Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan made 10 years later.  I really enjoyed it but had never seen the movie that inspired it.  Thanks Carl!

I was meditating yesterday and I got this idea for a picture I wanted to create, so I went to Sumo paint website and tried creating it.  I could not get the image from my mind to the paper but I wanted to see a face that was being sucked off the bone structure in layers of brilliant and illuminated flesh.  What would remain, somehow depicted as the entire figure left standing...a beating and pulsating heart.  If I had your talent, I would be sharing it with you as well.
