There's a New Deputy in Town

Howdy folks,

Just a quick note to let you know that we have officially deputized Stefano as our new official IL Community Moderator.  We slapped some spurs onto his boots, pinned a badge to his chest, and set him up with a pair of digital six-shooters.  It will be his job to generally ensure a safe and prosperous town square for us all—to help develop and uphold the law of the land, to make sure all the lily-livered varmints follow our basic community guidelines, and to keep the streets clear of tumbleweeds and spam.

(How are these awful Western references working for you?  I just watched John Wayne's True Grit over the weekend, so I am talking with a bit of a drawl these past few days.)

All joking aside, I want to publicly thank Stefano for stepping up to this important and long-overdue role.  I think he is the perfect person for this job—I have always admired his overall grasp of Integral theory and practice, as well as the skill, clarity and equanimity he demonstrates when he engages with this community.  He has been a part of our community for years, and obviously cares a great deal about all of us.  Thanks again Cowboy, this is really awesome.

We are still in the process of figuring out what the role of "community moderator" will actually entail, and as such, are very interested in what you have to say about it.  What do you want from a Community Moderator?  How can Stefano best serve the ongoing interests of the community, promote healthy behavior in all four quadrants, and encourage the ongoing self-organization of the Integral Community?

I have already informed Stefano that, when it comes to technological fixes, we do not have a lot of breathing room.  There are many tech functions and features of this community that I would like to see us fix, but unfortunately we simply do not have the resources to make these adjustments—especially since we are very busy working on an entirely new version of Integral Life community, to be rolled out in future months.  So Stefano's emphasis is largely going to be on the other three quadrants—UL intentions and expressions, LL culture-building, and UR behaviors.

Let us know what you think!

In the meantime, now that we have Deputy Stefano on his horse and patrolling these dusty trails, y'all can find me sipping whiskey in the Old Integral Saloon.  Come say hi sometime.

Sounds Great To Me!

I believe that Stefano is a great choice for the job! I think that our goal should be to have a community where we treat each other with kindness, care, dignity and respect. To me this is the heart of what integral is about.

To be honest I was considering leaving because of all the ugliness I had been seeing around here. This appointment gives me fresh hope and inspiration.

Welcome aboard Deputy Stefano.

Hey!

Got any grapes?

There doesn't seem to be a universal understanding of the validity claims of each Quad. I don't think Stef gets the LL correct. He prolly doesn't think I get it right. All I ask is that we have a way of resolving conflicts around that that doesn't involve Stef telling us that he is right when I know damn well that he's not certain about being right.

Perfect Choice

Stefano has as near to universal respect as anyone I've seen on this board as well as a swell grasp of the theoretical side. He should have the unilateral power to delete posts if they clearly violate the guidelines and also should feel free to gently step in and remind people to try and speak from their highest self if a conversation is going downhill. Warnings from mods work wonders on most forums I visit. There should be an appeals process on his decisions, too. I don't think he should be able to unilaterally ban people, though it might be cool if he could recommend bans to the community and let us all weigh in on it. Anyway, great choice.

Road Rules

Wasn't there sometime called road rules or something similar that gave some rules for engagement posted here or at integral naked? Does anyone know the link back to this? This should give us some good ideas about how to conduct ourselves in public.

Good

I'm so very happy to see this. You're right, it's long over-due, but better late than never. Hope he's tough, diplomatic and smart :P No pressure :-) This could be a tough spot, so best of luck. my full support.

"Integral" is just a perspective that is more complex (takes into account more variables) than many other perspectives. But it is still just a lens. A way of understanding. A lovely, helpful, structure which I'm greatful for
