What Is Given Is Not To Be Condemned
"Money is not a problem. It is the solution to the problem."
That's what our potential donor told us, when we were soliciting money to cover our expenses in a university-wide sports tourney when I was in college.
We kept muttering that statement whenever we wanted to poke fun at each other. But I think, now, it has given me some insight about the role of money (and sex and food) in human society.
Money, food, and sex are necessary to oil the wheels of society. Money is used for trade. Food is consumed for survival. And sex is practiced by people for reproduction and happiness (physical or otherwise). One cannot condemn what is given as fuel to the machine that is called society.
I really personally hate "sellouts" who seem to earn a lot of money (and food and sex) just by "projecting to the camera" or flagellating themselves in front of crowds. Because, I think, this is where the problem starts. True and proper goods and monetary transactions should involve an exchange of goods and/or money of equal value (this includes the perks of buying something, example, the perk of happiness). Art that is sold out of pure fad will never give the buyer long-lasting happiness, food that makes one feel full may internally harms the body, and sex that is practiced out of the wrong reasons will psychologically impair a participant or participants.
