How to find the "right" spiritual teacher

Hello community.

I've been doing much wresting with trying to pick a spiritual path (and teacher) that I can dedicate myself to.  From everything I hear, the "shop around" approach that jives with my rational mind is not the most effective way to develop/liberate myself (and therefore aid the development/liberation of all sentient beings).  Is there any particular methodology that all of you beautiful people have figured out?  Or if you are in my situation, what steps are you taking?

I also happen to have just moved back to Dallas with my parents after a financially-draining (but incredibly beautiful) traveling bout--a place unfortunately with not the highest societal/cultural altitude as say SF or Boulder or wherever else.  There doesn't happen to be some magical list I've missed on the internets or anywhere else of teachers that take an integral perspective with their approaches to teaching, aye?  Maybe that's a bit too much to ask though :P.  And maybe it's not even really necessary when we're talking about emptiness...

Well, here's a start...

I can let you in on a secret of where to start because we've talked to these folks since before they beta-launched ... www.patheos.com.  It's a slick site (I'm actually sort of jealous) and would be a good place to start in looking at the different traditions available.  Then, with an integral view of your own self and style and perhaps some of the resources you can find here on IL about different teachers, you might be able to narrow down to a specific path, then finding the teacher is just a matter of asking around.
