2nd Commandment is not against art, but against idolatry

2nd Commandment is not against art, but against idolatry.  Next thing commanded is to build an ark with cherubim - an art project.  Its a big stretch to interpret monotheistic religion as something against art just because some practitioners behaved this way.  Idolatry is in its root worshiping our small ego which is a bigger danger than murder.

But overall there is an interesting idea of underdeveloped right brain in our analytic scientific civilization.  But what would we do without science?
