ordinary mysticism

rings true that the church will thrive if it focuses on facilitating peoples' direct relationship with god so we may all awaken to the ordinary mysticism .. to god's activity .. in our lives as one human community

it certainly seems that is exactly what is beginning to happen as the freshness of the new washes over us in another evolutionary wave of unstoppable movement towards everincreasing greater good

quite ordinary really

I think

I think that people are so flustered over the whole use of the term 'God' in all of these discussions. It's almost as if some of the people here are not free of concepts and words and symbols yet in their apprehension of the One True Totality. And so it's odd for some, I think. It's just an opinion, but seems to be the case by my studies of the posts and responses to them.

It's almost as if some of the people on this site still believe there is this "Outside God" that is "judging" them and watching whether or not they are "defending" HIM, and keeping this "name" safe and protected and revered. What a weird idea. What a funny idea, really. To think that the essence of life really has a care in the world what it is sounded out as by one of the hundred million species on this tiny planet in the infinitely grand Universe. What an insult to this essence..... if this essence were insultable, that is.

I'm glad that the majority of us who peruse this site are free of such self created mind imprisonment. This is why it's so nice to commune here for the intelligentsia, in my opinion. The people here, most of us anyhow, are well able to put ourselves within the shoes of others, to see that many have not heard of the mythic God of the West, and who do not fear burning in Hell for masturbation or whatever. There is a tribe in Africa, I can't remember the name, but they believe that the Universe was created out of a drop of milk. And the Christians would say, "Well that is completely ridiculous. What savage beliefs!" But those of this tribe we are speaking of would perhaps look at the Christian belief and say, "You actually believe that you took two sticks out of the mud, hung a fellow on it, and he arose after being dead? Well, that's ridiculous!" Cultural relativity is nice.

The whole 'God' word is ridiculous. To think that these limited minds that have developed out of the Totality could actually fathom the Totality and sum it all up in a word, I'm glad the majority of us here are free of such ridiculousness and self-imprisonment. Because what a weird idea. If we want to experience 'God' or the Oneness, take a breath. Ponder your own existence. That is all. No problem, no big deal, easily done by children.

I think maybe it's fear that keeps us from seeing and accepting all of this. And thankfully that is so, because that way we can see that we are wrong. Fear shows us we are incorrect in our assumptions, and that they are connected to and bloom out of a past, out of things we were told by others. But to let all of what society and our communities think, to see it from a fresh and free perspective, this is the liberation we are all talking about. It's quite easy. It's in fact our True Selves. Our True Self. And it is the same behind all eyes. Behind all life. Behind all rock. It IS. This is all. Anything said or thought about the matter is an echo resembling the shadows of Plato's cave.
