questions to a ceo

Dear Dee:

  I liked your idea of a Wisdom Officer and so would be interested in how you would see such a person coming into being, vis a vis: education/experience/training as well as how a company would financially justify the position.  I have my own ideas, I'd just like to hear yours; please see below re my specifics.

  One of the reasons I bring this up it that I work at a Catholic hospital and here our WO's are called "chaplins".  It's interesting in that previously we had a lot of nuns here and they were a good hearted lot and now we have chaplins and they are great also.  I don't think they are all Catholic, which I thought interesting.  However, they are all of some particular religion. 

  What I'm leading up to is that previously when wanting "wisdom", we often turned to religion, but from reading Wilber and as part of my growing up process, I have noted that indeed each religion has a particular perspective and so the wisdom a person gets is from that perspective and sometimes from the religion's underlying cultural belief system.

  Thus, I'm would be interested in our culture developing a different type of WO.  Howver, I have the concern that some people would just see them as secular.  I would of course, hope they would actually be integral.  In other words, integral includes religious/spiritual/secular, whereas secular implies not including religious/spiritual ideas.  In further words, a WO as I would view them would combine both secular and religious/spiritual wisdom and this would help cut through some of our present conundrums.  So, part of the justification, financially, is that they would be problem solvers, both in and out of the box thinkers, since they could access both traditional and post-traditional thinking.   Hmm, I could see them are really good mediators.  What do you think?

  So, I'd like a cup of wisdom about what it would take for a person to become a WO as you would see it, plus any commonents about my own ideas.  The idea of a Wisdom Officer is such a great concept; it's really got me thinking.   Wouldn't it be nice to have WO's become part of our corporate culture?
