Re: Where's the pictures he's talking about?
Posted October 21st, 2009 by Bryce Widom in response to Where's the pictures he's talking about?Mark, the four paintings that Stu and I spoke of are on this page: http://integrallife.com/node/55345 (just below Stuart's bio). All four are shown here, including (from left to right) "Recognition" (the one with the woman opening to the zeppelin), "Reunion" (with the blindfolded woman), "Intensity" (with the rocket fuselage/boosters strapped to the man above with woman below), and "Freedom / Fullness" (which is a single painting, not two separate pieces).
If you'd like to see larger versions of these, you can view them on my own website (the link is mentioned on that page).
I do take responsibility for this confusion. Stu and I had this conversation about 9 weeks ago, at which point I had only just begun my work on the first two Views of God. While our conversation went into detail regarding those four paintings (from my recent "Reunion Series"), these past two months have been the sole focus of my much larger project, 1000 Views of God.
As the Gallery was very recently created, I petitioned the folks at Integral Life to have the Gallery's focus be on 1000 Views of God - a project which I've committed the next few years of my life to. I was aware of the potential for confusion, but I followed my passion and intuition: to place 1000 Views of God in the spotlight.
Thank you for your remarks. I appreciate your concern and the fact that your expectations of Integral Life moved you to the degree that you voiced them here.
Bryce.

Two Years Later...
Posted December 22nd, 2011 by Mark Evans in response to There they are!I've always been a fan of art, but was never much of an "artist" myself. My primary outlet is photography and as I explored Transcendent art here, read books (and looked at the pictures), the question arose: how does one depict the Transcendent with photography (exclusive of major efforts with Photoshop, because I really like Alex Gray's Theologue).
I just returned to Bryce's website to see what new images he's done and found my answer. He's painting landscapes with people in them! Thanks Bryce!

Freedom/Fullness
Posted December 26th, 2011 by Bryce Widom in response to Two Years Later...Hi Mark,
Yes, such a fascinating topic. There is so much rich content that speaks to this, right here on IL - some of my favorite conversations being those between Ken and Alex, and Ken and Michael Bergt. Also, there are a few highly illuminating conversations that used to be on Integral Naked, w/ Ken and some Fielding students - not sure if they made the crossover to IL.com.
My own experience is one of increasing-freedom leading naturally to increasing-fullness, and vice versa. So that, in deepening the Transcendent (liberation), the Immanent (fullness) is also increased - and the other way around, as well. And then, in a silent crescendo, the boundary vanishes, the experience is one of totality, unity. This is often (and more and more so) the experience I have while painting (and in other moments of grace, as well) - that I am nowhere, and everywhere, infinitely Free, absolutely Full. And perhaps the paintings carry a trace of this . . .
I'd love to see your photos, Mark.
Blessings.

Where's the pictures he's talking about?
Posted October 21st, 2009 by Mark EvansI eagerly sat down to listen to the artist talk about his work while looking at the actual pictures. To my dismay, I could only find one he mentioned! Where's the one with the Space Shuttle, the one with him above and his wife below holding is ankle? Fullness? I did find Freedom, though the titles don't show up on the grid of thumbnails. The one with his wife and the Zepplin doesn't depict a blind fold, nor does it appear on the grid or enlarge if one manages to find it on the download page.
As much as I like the pictures and the talk, I expect better than this.
