why weren't we told ?!

rollie says that so many christians come up to him asking why weren't we told this ? why didn't anybody mention this ?
regarding the christian practice of contemplation that after sixteen centuries somehow got lost .. that father thomas, brother david and others are rescuing
the beautiful practice where we come into the presence of god and the relationship deepens and deepens until we recognize god within
