About Me
I have a Ph.D in Clinical Psych with a strong and long time background in research methods, statistics, psychometrics, evaluation, and computer programming. I've also been meditating for thirty three years, involved in experiential therapies and modalities since the late 70's, and am still happily married to the angel (her earth name is Darlene) I met 30 years ago. We have four awesome children, and with only one left at home, I feel like I'm enjoying a 2nd adolescence (only with a bit more maturity). Darlene and I have recently actualized a long time dream and have set up a spiritually-oriented, integrally and psychotherapeutically-informed Center where we offer discussion groups and teachings on Integral-and-related-material, Buddha Dharma/ meditation training, individual and group therapy, meditation retreats, guest teachers, and workshops. Darlene has been pursuing and developing two subtle contemplative, yoga-like practises. One is called Developmental Yoga and the other is Maitreya's chair. Both are based on the physical bodies developmental unfolding and are quite potent at helping people experience the various subtle bodies and facilitating both psychotherapeutic and spiritual unfolding. I've been pursuing and developing a model of the Mind-body-spirit relationship which speaks quite directly to the two developmental sequences portrayed in the Wilber-Coombes matrix. Part of this framework is Bio-Emotive Integral Therapy (BEIT) which includes a highly refined, nuanced, and powerful model for healing and maturing the emotional system. The BEIT model grew out of three years of systematically recording the "irreducible" words that arose across clients doing a Gendlin-like Focusing process. It explicates the nine core feelings dimensions that our emotional brain appears biologically designed to extract (or perceive) from our inter-personal worlds. One of the unfortunate but useful insights that arises from this BEIT framework is that we are all essentially alexithymic (yes, even us Integral folks) and that majority of our personal and cultural dysfunctions are a result of this alexithymia. :-(
