Eugene Pustoshkin

I’m citizen of the world and a licensed clinical psychologist from St. Petersburg, Russia. I devoted my life towards exploration of the many ways the Good, the True, and the Beautiful manifest in the world. I vowed to engage in activities and life style that support liberation of all sentient beings in all realms, states, stages, and times.

History

I graduated from St. Petersburg University (Faculty of Psychology, Chair of Medical Psychology and Physiology) in 2010. I am also an alumnus of the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program, in which I participated when I was a high school student in 2003-2004; this is a scholarship student exchange program which allows kids from former Soviet Union to live and study in the United States for one academic year. From 2008 till 2011, I have been a student of the Integral Psychology / Holoscendence course led by Sergey Kupriyanov, MD, in Helsinki, Finland; I am certified practitioner of the Holoscendence Method (more on Holoscendence Method see Kuprijanov S., “The Holoscendence Method for psychotherapy and for advancing personal and spiritual growth,” Towards a Science of Consciousness, Stockholm, May 2011).

Interests

My interests include, among many other things:

• integral pragmatics versus integral theory paradox;
• transpersonally-oriented aesthetical self-expression;
• integral psychotherapy, psychopathology and spiritual development;
• transdisciplinary action inquiry on structures and states of consciousness and their influence on culture and society;
• exploration of hidden, marginalized, and esoteric aspects of the Russian multicultural space, and integration of the post-Soviet societies into the global community;
• fostering of global citizenship and cross-cultural awareness conceived through the integral framework.

I am practitioner of multidimensional communication and non-dual integral-altitude spirituality that embraces both ascending and descending currents of being-in-the-world.

Social Activities and Community Service

I do my best to continuously engage in conscious social activism and meaningful entrepreneurship through applying skillful means and employing my rich experience of cross-cultural communication and facilitation.

My activities include the following:

• I co-founded non-governmental, non-for-profit project States of Consciousness (http://altstates.net), the first international academic web portal devoted to scientific inquiry into altered states of consciousness. The project was recognized by a mainstream Russian grant and received support from such prominent scholars in the field of altered states of consciousness as Dimitry Spivak, Stanley Krippner, Charles T. Tart, and Arnold Ludwig.
• I’ve collaborated with Dr. Mark Tourevski (http://ialba.org/eng) and Dr. Joachim Faust at doing research and formulating a concept for the Global Dialogue: Russian Contribution (http://www.ialba.org/eng/global-dialogue-russian-contribution.html) program, a project which hasn’t been launched yet but which is aimed, among all other things, at facilitating the integration of the Russian cutting-edge individuals and communities with the West and at the same time promoting the benefits of global citizenship among them. I presented the concept of the program at the 2010 International Transpersonal Conference (Moscow, Russia).
• Together with my comrades-in-arms all around the world I have been working towards establishing  integral communities in Russia and other post-Soviet states.
  • As one example, in 2008-2009, I initiated and facilitated dialogue between the leaders of the Western community of integral theory and practice (K. Wilber, M. Murphy, S. Cook-Greuter, and others) and representatives of the Russian society who were interested in the prospects of implementing integrative technologies in reforming business and civil society. The events,  meetings, and conference calls within this initiative were held in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Odessa, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, and Amsterdam. This was a rich and powerful experience that also unmasked many problems and posed many challenging issues to be solved by the integral-altitude community. The range of discoveries and challenges includes, among other things,
    
    • realization of the necessity for promoting the practice of multicultural perspective taking;
    • learning about financial challenges of individuals and communities that try to actualize the Integral vision and the dangers they meet when they follow the path of psychospiritual development and attempt to reconfigure their life activities towards that aim;
    • understanding of clinical psychopathologies as they manifest in spiritual and business communities and in society in general in the developing countries with the emerging markets;
    • grasping the need of integral community in a more rigorous self-reflection, self-awareness and self-criticism;
    • and realization of the necessity to continuously develop more conscious approaches towards pragmatical implementation of integral-level basic moral intuition in everyday actions.
