No, I am talking about making sure that humans do not self destruct. Happiness is bound to follow, don't you think?

I suppose a bit more detail is required…shit, not exactly my forte but you‘re right…we can‘t just keep talking theories, sooner or later we have to set something in motion.

The question is; how does Planet Inc’s strategy for 21st century challenges translate into some actions that we as an Integral community might perform? Or, does it really translate at all, are they doing something that most of us will have no influence on whatsoever?

I am not going to even pretend to understand the complexity of the project that they are taking on, but maybe I can begin by talking a little bit about what I do know.

On FB; when I read some of their questions they posed to the participants of a test scenario, I vicariously positioned my own responses (never written or submitted) and then listened as they evaluated the thought process from those that responded. Initially, I felt angry and annoyed at their seeming expectations of something that needed to fall within some standard that only they (Erica and Annie) knew. I started to imagine that they had some preconceived idea on what it was they were looking for… I suppose it would be impossible not to have that requirement but I wondered who would know what it was?

I suppose we might imagine that any response coming from a perspective that has included all 8 zones would be sufficient, but the little bit of “something” that emerges when the past meets the future is completely and uniquely creative and that is something I knew I hadn’t heard in any of the responses.

If we are marking our spot in history, by our body/mind existing as an emergent, springing into being, what is it that we add to this space; individually, socially and culturally?

If we can’t speak individually to this emergent, we can most assuredly speak socially or culturally by the products or exceptional knowledge we contribute as a country, culture or society. We are reaching a saturation point that makes non-cooperation impossible, and by identifying our unique gifts we have something that this particular moment in time (our creative NOW) produces.

If we are asked to intervene in any organization, government or business, most importantly we need to identify the relationships with every partner, sub-organization or government entity that we have a vested interest in, those relationships that keep us operating and/or service our concerns.

We think in terms of bilateral transactions but I imagine that today we have outgrown its usefulness, the inhabitants of this planet have an unequal share in its resources and consequently we can no longer operate with that kind of give and take. I have no idea what will change the minds of those that have the power to do so, but in unstable times we are all looking for some assurance in what the “others” are doing. We are setting the pace and creating a future that if we stand alone our foundation will certainly crumble.

Stan, you ask what it is we do? Well, I have changed, I can’t do anything the way I did it before, I can’t think like I use to or have the same kinds of relationships that I use to have. This tiny part of the world that I live in has been disrupted by the changes I have put into place. What do you do Stan? How have you changed? Do I think that we are all going to move to Colorado and establish a community…no. But if you consider technology, we don’t have to. We influence people across the globe, but actually more accurately we are merely a manifestation of our time and place and we are pushing and pulling according to this new way of being…just by being. We know our immediate surroundings and we know the lives that we can realistically change, what we don’t know is that although our bodies are limited our participation far exceeds what we may imagine. And that’s good enough for me.

Hey Stanley, thanks for the kind words. You asked what I'm up to. My next project, which I've been working on for the past 8 months, is targeting large-scale human development vis a vis the healthcare industry, specifically by attacking the base of the pyramid of the problem by helping people to change their daily lifestyle behaviors.  This effort grows out of something I kept finding as I'd apply integral to large-scale problems - from climate change in the 2020 Climate Leadership Campaign to corporate leadership in the Conscious Capitalism movement - that everyone wants people to change ("transform") but no one knows how to get it to happen at scale. I analyzed the problem in detail and decided that the longest lever on the planet today for simultaneous wide-span, deep-depth transformation was to create the world's first integral approach to mass-personalized human change and deliver it through healthcare channels, which remain the largest consolidated channels of scale to the US population.  So that's what we've been up to since.

Excuse me Stefano, you claim that we need significant change, but you are using the same mind that anticipates what that might be. The “rational”, “individualistic” created these problems and you are assuming it is those same perspectives; however developed, will find its solutions. It’s individual all right, but whom does that individual identify with? Last night I was reflecting on IMP (Integral Methodological Pluralism) and I began to consider what it means as an individual to be balanced in all 8 zones, by that I mean; what perspectives do I hold after considering or having traveled all those many paths? Do you ever wonder how we make a single decision, when you consider all the many influences we are bombarded with daily, we synthesis and weigh consequences, and then we find some appropriate action. All the pathways that exist as possible avenues for exploration are there, but how effective would we be if we remained encumbered in each subsystems detail. An example would be: we decide to go for a walk, we tell our leg muscles to bend and push as our arms lean and leverage our body off the couch, we focus on every step, reminding our self to extend each leg in front of the other…etc. etc.

Every path to knowledge travels a single linear line, cannot be avoided as far as I can tell. The common denominator towards all realization of some outcome is the end result, it matters not how we got there but simply that this is where we ended up. The present and the future are connected by all these paths to knowledge and if you leave out the detail (the center that is traveled) you have the mind that factors in all that would and could be achieved. 2012, I think represents in some part that mind. Unity is not a platitude or an emotional sentiment, if all the great tradition are correct on this particular point, imagine just for a minute how that would actually be inhabited. Transpersonal and Transrational, has a different way of integrating, what is included is just loved, we don’t know how to love with our rational mind, love just responds and moves according to a higher order. The word love is used but not necessarily as an emotion or feeling, the word implies the principles of love in that it is beyond the rational mind and the intentional choice that gives to this greater order.

I am exhausted in my attempts to integrate the personal, what the hell else could it be but personal, it is what I am and all that I can be. The question remains; who have I included in my person? And, does it make a damn bit of difference if I have loved all those qualities in myself that most would despise (me too), but I started down this road and I cannot expect to understand the same way my heart understands.
