Trying Different Meditation Techniques (ADHD)

I have ADHD and have been looking for a meditation method that really works well for me. I have tried all the integral methods that are in the ILP Starter Kit and have come up with my own that uses Holosync. I have combined the three body workout, Holosync, Big Mind, and the Mondo Zen meditation.

I start off with the 10 minute version of the 3 body workout to prepare my body for sitting. I then get seated on my zafu and read the Awakened Ones Vow from the Mondo Zen Sutra Book. I then put on the headphones for Holosync and begin the CD. I then ask if any voices need to be heard, then ask to speak to Big Mind, Big Heart (sit with this for a moment). Then I ask to speak to the voice of Non-seeking, Non-grasping mind. I sit with this for the first thirty minutes of the Holosync CD (just listening to the bells in this voice). For the second half of the Holosync CD I use the Mondo Zen meditation of Know/No (this helps with my concentration). I then finish with a passage from The Enlightened Heart from Stephen Mitchell.

I do not plan on using this method for too long. I have extreme trouble with maintaining my focus during meditation because of my ADHD and this method really helps with that.

Perhaps you could try sitting for less time.  My thought is that the quality of your meditation may improve this way because you can work up to an hour or more.

Perhaps having a starting point of 15 mins mediation for a while until that time frame is a "good" meditation.

That meditation sounds really awesome!

A Few More Suggestions

A person who does not love sitting still too much could do a walking meditation. He could go for a walk (in a beautiful setting in nature if possible) and repeat his mantra with each inbreath and each outbreath. He could use a short mala to help with this. A person could also do hatha yoga and once again repeat his mantra with each breath.

I recall reading the work of a psychologist from Japan who believes that our nervous system is most at peace when it is taking in perceptions at the speed of walking.
