ROFL Oh, you poor, poor dear!
Posted February 11th, 2010 by Jennifer Grove in response to that's a good question!I can't believe how ironic it is that you confessed to having anything to do with the software that runs this site and then had to multiple post because of the glitch. Oh, dear, dear obinine. If I could spare you the um-bare-ass-ment and delete your extras, I so would, but I can't because I don't have that option to delete comments in my own blog post! Oy! You should delete them all and deny everything! LOL
Okay. I will check out the link and the coolio graphs and get back to you.

Posted February 13th, 2010 by obinine in response to ROFL Oh, you poor, poor dear!There... I cleaned things up a bit.Yeah I kept getting an "internal server error, come back and try again soon" message. So I did!
Let me be clear that I use the same software that runs this site (Integral Life) - which is actually great software - but I don't have any involvement with maintaining or enhancing this site.
Typically I'm hired to fix these kinds of problems ;-)

Thread looks much nicer now, thank you. LOL Now to clean up my livingroom...

Sorry Sorry
Posted February 14th, 2010 by Stanley in response to ROFL Oh, you poor, poor dear! But have I been the only person to appreciate how hilarious things have been around here lately? A team of brilliant comic writers could not have created a funnier comic routine than this and "falling down". Better to laugh than scream isn't it?

Ummmm, welllll
Posted February 14th, 2010 by Jennifer Grove in response to Sorry SorryNo. Falling down is not actually funny. I did laugh. But that was a bit of a psychotic reaction. I have a license to do that. I'm officially crazy. I probably would be more healthy and sane if I did scream. But if a crazy person being verbally abused screams in the Integral Life forest, there doesn't seem to be anyone around to hear it and so it wouldn't make much of a sound. I have tried that before.
I'm glad you heard my laughter at any rate.

Okay, so...
Posted February 11th, 2010 by Jennifer Grove in response to that's a good question!Integral Playground is the name of a structure like an aggregator (only bigger, better, stronger, faster, etc.) which collects content but is itself empty. It seems to be customizable by the User so that I can tell it to collect whatever content I want from any of the feeds that you access.
Do I have that right?
Are those spikes in the graphs near the end of October when the video was made and you were getting word out? They're too tiny for me to see. Just a guess. I used to create tags and content on twitter and watch the graphs. Since I ignored all the pop-bs about what Britney was wearing and what hip-hop phrases were trending, I had to figure it out somehow. It was fun.
It's nifty that you called it that and that you used Integral to teach how it works. Very nifty! So, Integral Life is a User and is using it to collect all content having to do with Integral off the feeds that you supply. And they've plugged a little feed window in the lower right of the front page here, so that it doesn't take a whole page. I take it that this can be done to any site? Can I plug it into my Fb page or another social site? Can I make it so that my "friends" or readers can see it, or is it only visible to me?
I know there's much more to it, but I don't have the knowledge and expertise to even talk about it.
This is very nifty. At first I thought it had content - that maybe it was an alternative social site for Integralites.
I'm wondering if there is a danger of providing avenues for spammers, bots and hackers who would not otherwise find the site. I've noticed that some posts here seem to have a bunch of code at the top of them and the person didn't bother to delete that. Is this a sign that they're using a bot to deliver and post the content? If so, this is a possible problem at an intimate place like this where we're very sensitive to one another's responses and are using very human faculties when responding.
I've been making comments at a site tonight that requires that I type the characters that I see in the (non-text) box in order to verify that I'm a human. But I'm noticing that I'm unable to see them well and I have to reload the page many times to refresh and try again. Is there a better way to sift out spammers who might find their way here (or anywhere else that you don't want them) from your feed service or another similar service?
The reason I've pretty much quit twitter is because of all the spam and hacking going on. It just wasn't worth it after a while. So, their tactics of pushing their content backfired. I don't see twitter caring about my disgruntlement either or providing ways for me to overcome their efforts - or anyone else who hates all that. So, if this service was going to green light, I would not duplicate that dissatisfaction. I don't know how the bills would get paid, but since we're integrallers, it's our job to figure that out.

that's a good question!
Posted February 10th, 2010 by obinineI built the integral playground service in late August when I was noodling around with some new (to me) modules in Drupal - the software that runs the service (and this website!).
I was looking for an automated way to help spread the Integral message. I settled on what you see going on there now. For a more technical description of what it's doing see the about page or watch my presentation on it to the Pacific NorthWest Drupal Summit last October.
For the first few months I let it run without exposing the login block but then I decided to add it just to see what happens. I don't really have a clear idea of what to do with users who decide to create accounts yet.
If you have any ideas for where the service could go from here (and help it move out of "pre-beta" stage) please let me know.
Here is some analytics info in case you're interested in what kind of traffic it gets:
