You must be the change you wish to see in the world. - Gandhi
I am so happy to have found out about the Integral Approach as it very closely alligns with the wisdom and clarity that I have gained through the various experiences/lessons of my life. I think it strikes an extremely nice (and necessary) balance between rationality and spirituality, two aspects of us humans that we have historically polarized. Not to mention the balances that it strikes with so many other "polarities". Exploring the Integral Life website, I have bumped into all kinds of talks and writings on a wide variety of topics that tie things together in a very intuitive way for me. Most of what I have read and heard from this site has rung unmistakably true to my ears and my heart. It is wonderful to have found a community of people who seem to see the universe in a cohesive way, in a way that Life has been leading me to see it for years and years.
Enough of an ego rub for the Integral folks.
About me... I am a person who is seeking to deepen my understanding of myself, those around me, and the universe, in a wider sense. I see all experiences as opportunities to learn and grow. I feel I have been flung into some later stages of development by my life's intense experiences, but that, of course, is as a result of my soul's path/yearning. I have often felt that I am an old soul living in a world built by and for younger souls. In this way, the Integral Approach also fits well with my empirical evidence of how human society is developing. At times, being this "old soul" has felt very alienating, however, with some unknown, indescribable inner wisdom (the stuff that dwells within us all), I've been able to change my perspective of this alienation into a source of understanding and love. I am constantly being drawn to things and people that help me deepen that understanding and love and I am sure that's why I stumbled upon the Integral Approach.
I am also very passionate about seeking pathways for human societies to become sustainable (or just not self-destructive). To this end, I earned a master's degree in sustainability sciences, in which we studied and applied systems thinking. Until recently, I thought this was the most holistic, scientific way of approaching issues. The Integral Approach seems to have transcended systems thinking and sustainability sciences. In continuing my independent research, I have become fairly certain that evolution itself is evolving and, therefore, we humans are evolving at an exponential rate. I have been searching for some sort of theory or coherent explanation for this, so as not to feel that it is "just in my head". The Integral Theory not only allows for this but also seems to support it.
In short, I'm happy to be here and excited to interact and learn more.
