Who does or has tried Reiki? Your experiences?

I'm kind of curious about Reiki, but have been a little put off by some of what I've read--notions of using amulets or symbols to send healing energy from afar, for example. There also seems to be a clear emphasis on the money-making aspect, in looking at some of the related Web sites. Apparently some fairly credible scientific studies have found no positive health benefits. Science does not recognize subtle energy in any way, though, and that makes me wonder what people who have actually experienced Reiki's effects, or who practice and teach it, might have to say about it. Thanks!

I have

Hi J,

Reiki practice is still traditional, following the instructions as brought from Japan by Madame Takata. The person who I have learned from holds more value in the practical experiential teachings than from any books or websites. It must be felt to be learned.

Yes, you can feel it. Regarding scientific studies, I consider the empathic capacities of our pets; dogs and cats that understand when we are ill, even before we know ourselves. Can someone poll the cats and dogs and ask how they know? Yes, maybe a reach in comparison, but it is a subjective experience that probably is difficult to measure.

It is interesting to see that the modification of the 5 precepts is being adapted to the more positive type of language that our ego responds to.

In my experience there are  practitioners who would gladly barter, or do a "by donation" service.

Have fun.

reiki tummo

I was trained in reiki tummo. At it's core it's just touching your Heart, smiling, relaxing, following the feeling, allowing and surrendering to 'True Source' without mentally conceptualizing 'It' in the UR...

...until shifts into the LL as a 'Thou'.

At some point the Heart explodes and the energy rains through the crown of UL. It feels so good it's ridiculous. I was once 'thrown' to the ground laying prostrate unable to control myself or move.

No matter how good it feels they train you to let it go, don't hold on to any 'goodness', but be an instrument for the Reiki or True Source energy to flow through you as an offering to others.

Any symbology they use seems to be primarily for muscle memory, imo, i don't relate to the symbols - but the simplest thing is just two fingers on the center of the chest and smiling - relaxing - and just following the feeling.  It's a wonderful way to ease into the subtle where Love and Gratitude dance around each other.
