About Me

I live in Ottawa, Ontario.  I was actually born and raised here, headed to the big cities in my early twenties, travelled around much of the world, and ultimately returned home in my mid thirties. My three younger sisters have also all returned to Ottawa and so I have four nieces and one nephew in town. I am happily married to my partner, Laura, and we live in a house that is a stone's throw from the hospital where I was born, the woods that I played in when I was growing up, and the house where I was raised. Laura is from Berkeley and her family is all in California so Berkeley is our home away from home. We get there as often as we can.

Let's see...what else? I'm Irish! I love an authentic Irish Pub with great Irish music.

Education

I have an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Masters of Management Studies Degree.  Both degrees focused on research and development. I am a Master Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation.

Career

I am the co-founder and CEO of Integral Coaching Canada.  Prior to forming our own company in 1999, I had a fifteen year corporate career.  I worked for Dun & Bradstreet, Johnson & Johnson, and Nortel Networks. My work in each of these companies centred arouned research and development from medical devices to behavioural psychology, from high tech to human tech. All the way through, I was always most interested in developing the capacities of my teams. Coaching came naturally. Integral Coaching Canada is a culmination of my learnings in these domains so far...

Integral Coaching Canada is the global coaching partner of the Integral Institute and Integral Life. In a related vein, I am also VP, Integral Coaching & Development for Integral Life working very closely with Robb Smith in building the present and future offerings of Integral Life, Integral Coaching and anything related to healthy adult development.

Hobbies and Interests

I have been studying with Natalie Goldberg since 1993 as I continue to submit to and see relationships between my writing practice and my Zen practice. They continue to inform each other.  I attend one or two silent writing retreats (sesshins) each year with Natalie serving as her assistant.

I love music - all kinds. I love concerts and have been known to stalk box offices when tickets go on sale.  I have almost as many CDs as books.  I love reading and writing.  I am a voracious reader.  I play the guitar although Laura always beats me at Guitar Hero.
