About Me

 In 2001, I - an early, well-educated, relatively successful & highly disillusioned baby-boomer - imigrated to Brasil because I could no longer tolerate the confusing whirlpool of illusion that was my experience in the society & culture I knew as an American.  I found a phlefora of evidences to justify my complete & utter dismay that all I had come to believe & practice no longer made enough sense to me to hold onto any longer.  I let everything material go & accepted the reality of bankruptcy which I had been courting since 1998.  The early "innovative financial alternatives" I had used to postpone my physical reality of daily economic insolvency proved to be just more mega-illusion.

 My family & friends could not understand my language, my ruminations, my questing, my disillusionment, my aching, nor my anguish.  So I gave up trying desperately to make them understand.  Since 1976 after a 2-year+ processing my depression from the accidental drowning death of my first child at 4 years old, I created this creed - it is essentially quoted here in its original form, although I periodically updated it as I matured:

"My behavioral intent for daily life practice

I break fresh ground – because, & only because, I have the courage to go ahead without asking whether others are following, or even understand.  I have no need for divided responsibility in which others seek to be safe from ridicule, because I have been granted a faith which requires no confirmation – a contact with reality, light & intense like the touch of a loved hand; a union in self-surrender without self-destruction, where my heart loves, & my mind is lucid…

Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely…We from our witness observe, think about, and ponder these thoughts in our Golden Bowl of Observation, and make manifest these things at the right time, in the right blend for integrated balance in our lives.

We ask for these desires of our hearts-minds-bodies-souls-spirits in Your Most Holy Name, Kundalini, The Cosmic Christ,

By beginning here where we are,

By giving all that we are, all that we do, all that we have,

By stepping out in faith within every breath, and

By knowing Your miracles within every breath, Eternally Now.

Here are we, send us Great Mysterious, Most High of the High, Most Holy of the Holies, Kundalini.

I have discovered new soulful vistas from my Brazilian-quasi-world-perspective & continously applied them through my own integral life practice.  In 2001 I discovered the writings of Ken Wilber & absorbed many of his books voraciously over the following two years.  I was very grateful to participate as the Integral Institute created its virtual community, & have been a relatively silent participant ever since.  I have been most grateful to have the knowledge that there is in fact a growing body of integral life practioners, although physically within my close Brazilian community, I am a lone voice, frequently dismayed in my attempts to facilitate our mutually expanding consciousness.  I am very happy in my new life here, although accepting the loneliness of integral attitude & faith.

As I began to follow the campaign of Barack Obama after hearing his inspiring 2004 convention speech, I have experienced a marvelous resurgence in my hope for participating in the causation of the epic transcendence that Ken Wilber describes will occur when more or less 10% of the global population reaches integral in their life practice.  The methods & practice of Obama's campaign communities are the most obvious signs of the quickening that is going on.  My whole professional career has been centered in evolution of integral organizational redesign to achieve & sustain industrial democracy.  I now believe this is potentially expanding into global systems at an unprecedented rate.  I was so very depressed over George Bush being indicated as the president in 2000, & embarrassed consistently with his administration's ignorance & arrogance, but am now very grateful!  This movement backwards evidently was so necessary to cause the glaring failures in global institutions & systems from the lower levels of impossible absolutisms from any one level or perspecitve, so that the miracle of electing Obama could occur. 

And here we are, participants in the emerging new world order, being facilitated by the emerging integral mastery of this eloquent, inspiring new American leader of the free world.  I adore & completely agree with Saniel Bonder's reflections while observing Obama's inauguration:

 With an integrated formal background of industrial engineering, information systems, organizational psychology, & business management, John Burton Duncan Jr. has served in lead roles for 54 large-scale change projects in 15 different industries over 30 years. His specialty is redesigning industrial democracy structures to achieve radical business process, organizational change management, & leadership development to achieve & sustain high performance with a balanced scorecard of personal leadership, financial, social sustainability, & environmental prosperity. From origin, depending on internal client capabilities, his large-scale change contract duration typically lasts 3 years, ranging from 1-7, covering the entire organizational change life cycle: awareness-acceptance-design-implementation-adoption. Because of using his whole system integrated approach with each client, Duncan has received experience-based masters degrees in each of the industries within which his long-term clients have operated.

 Family life practice, cooking, reading, writing, online dialogue with Integral Evolutionary life practice collaborators, travel, ever-learning and developing skill in Brazilian Portuguese and culture
