No smoking please

Hot On The Shadow's Trail

I tend to see this as empathy in action.  That is as opposed to sympathy which always entails entanglement within the emotional.  It is most difficult to pull this off when interacting with others.  Its a little like the ex smoker that becomes extremely vitriolic when others smoke in their presence.  This is an interesting phenomenon.  Especially in light of new discoveries made by the neurosciences.  Namely the mirror neurons.  The body can actually mimic the actions of others just by observing them.  I guess the question I have is how do we do that and remain dispassionate without becoming in-different ?  To be equanimous I suppose ?  It seems that our past involvement tends to make us even more prone to the creation of shadow.  Just as all addictions tend to drag us back into them.

Perception

Imagine others and the world as this Self. We are samsara. There's wasted energy. There's also oases. Why do I deplore waste? What if it is just the first stepping stone or encouragement to act in a Great Chain of Awakening? What really draws me to "rest" somewhere? Do I have that little faith in the revolving balance inherent everywhere? Do I deny that rest and silence can show themselves--must show themselves sometime?

Someone issues a call for balance or a repair somewhere. Will they fix anything or bring the whole World to ruin by one thing leading to another? My body has more faith than me! It says, "Don't just sit there" and not "You might get run over by a bus." I trust the body while keeping reasonable doubt in my pocket just in case.
