Another unresearched claim we have to pay for...

Great presentation. Informative and elegant.

I'd only like to add that one more claim Bill does is even more unfounded than the claim about vertical development generated through the use of holosync; and that is the claim about carrier frequencies. Bill says that the brain gets used to the entrainment from each cd and therefore the carrier frequency is lowered each level (and which also means that you have to keep buying new levels to keep progressing). I have seen NO research supporting this claim. And it is a claim that is at the core of the holosync enterprise, and the reasong to why holosync is so expensive. I find it outright baffling that this hasn't been called into question. People buy new levels for great sums of money and the only guarantee to get your money's worth is Bill's guess that this is how it works.

My take on it is that the technology holosync use really works. It does so and it has done so even long before Bill and holosync started charging money for it. It is a simple and free technique called binaural beats or binaural tones, and there are free programs on the web with which you can make your own levels and create your own meditation cd's. It isn't even that hard. But even if you don't wan't to make it yourself, there are tons of other binaural beat cd's to buy that are much cheaper than holosync and that are just as good.

The only reason to buy holosync, which is more expensive than any other binaural beat product I've ever seen, would be if you also buy into Bill's claim about the carrier frequencies - which I see as a bogus claim until proven otherwise.

My experience supports the validity of the lower carrier frequencies

I am a regular Holosync user and a licensed clinical psychologist.  I am currently on Awakening Level 4.  At first I was skeptical about the lower carrier frequencies, too.  It sounds like a scam and you are right, there is no formal research to support Bill's claims.  However, I tried the "deeper levels" (as they are called) as my own personal experiment--and found that the program works pretty much as Bill describes it.  After using a level for some time (4-12 months, depending on the level and on your own personal psychology), you reach maximum gain from the level, and it is useful to move on to the next level.  I have found each deeper level to be more powerful than the previous one.  The long term result for me has been increasing openness, equanimity, and even realization of essential true nature.  If you don't believe the claims of the lower carrier frequencies, I suggest trying them yourself and seeing for yourself.  You can always stop if you reach a level that doesn't seem helpful.  By the way, it has been my experience that Holosync is more effective if you are doing a traditional meditation practice while listening, rather than just a passively listening to the CD's, so I suggest this for Holosync users.

Deeper levels a good thing

I agree with Tom. I'm a psychologist, too, but that's not really relevant. What may be more relevant is that I have a basement recording studio and, as an amateur musician, it was extremely humbling to enter the world of the recording, mixing, and mastering engineer(s). Therefore, I think dismissing out of hand the binaural beat recording/engineering expertise Centerpointe has developed is naive and risks being just as unscientific.

That said, I agree that Centerpointe would only enhance their mission if they provided more research--although, for all I know, they have. I'll have to look into that a bit further, actually.
