PSI threatens ego

Isn't much of the resistance to the existence of PSI due to the ego's feeling threatened?  If I have more senses than I think, as if I found out I were a mutant from the X-Men, then this would be good news  (since this PSI sense is certainly beneficial).  But it threatens my identity as: person, body, separate and independent in my mind.  It spoils the me vs you competition game just a bit.  Materialist premises serve our storylines but not our deeper selves, no?  I saw Dean Radin giving a talk at Google.  Everyone in the audience seemed pretty unfazed.  But isn't this the beginning of a long-awaited awakening process?
