Retreat
I came back from a retreat today. Two days only, kinda fun, but hard as well. Sitting was not hard, but seeing my self, my personality was.
Sharing this with one of the elders of the group was helpful. She said that the resistance teaches us just how much we can grow. Like a weightlifter who, feeling a strain overcomes it, develops just to the extent of the strain.
Instead of resisting my personality I can learn to watch its quirks, learn to endure my resistance to it (and to anything that opposes its selfish desires) and appreciate it. Because of it I have an opportunity to grow; without experiencing it consciously I would be as I am forever till I die.
