ARE YOU HAPPY?
Stop.
Now, reflect upon how you actually felt when you read those words.... What was your re-action?
I recall when this question made "me" angry and annoyed! Or, I would go into some elaborate philosophical justification or explanation of the "intricacies" of the human condition and the absurdity of the question itself....
But now, it just seems like a simple question, worthy of a simple answer; and reveals "my" actual condition from moment to moment....
And that is the condition or state that I share with everyone I meet. And "this", unreasonable and unjustified happiness in the face of this raging planetary fire, is the "prasad" we place at one another's feet....
MAY ALL BEINGS BE HAPPY!

From moment to moment to moment
Posted November 18th, 2010 by peacepilgrimThe first re-action felt neutral and curious, than I started to think! why I can not be happy right now.

Positive I Am affirmations
Posted November 18th, 2010 by KammIve been getting warmed up for a challenge, and doing some affirmations that begin with "I Am' and they are followed by the word happy, so I had a joyous reaction to your question. LOL.
Here is a nugget for you all to use: "I am so happy that I am aware of my reactions."

Good Question
Posted November 18th, 2010 by StanleyI was reflecting on your question as a concert of Suzanne Vega came on my favorite radio station; www.xpn.org Many of Suzanne's songs are dark and sad but they are all infused with an abiding beauty. That's why I love them. It occured to me that a more meaningful question than am I happy might be is there beauty within me? This beauty could abide through the happiness and the sorrow and all the emotions and thoughts that play upon the screen of my life.

Who cares
Posted November 20th, 2010 by Bill KilburgTo me the question is in the realm of describing and is a past based conceptual thing. To me I would ask. Are you bringing happiness into existence from nothing ? .... So am "I" happy ? no. So what... Am I experiencially bringing happiness into existence?... yes. When I choose to. No attachment to happiness . Who cares if the concept is happy. Its not you anyway.

Ya know...
Posted November 17th, 2010 by Kevin Matthews...my mind immediately went to all of the reasons why I shouldn't be happy...dagummit. Truthfully though, of all those "reasons," I recognize that they are just excuses, attachments, unhealthy identifications; fallacies with the sole purpose of keeping me from recognizing the Truth - I don't need a reason to be happy if I believe and have faith in mySelf.
Sounds easy...but I don't think any of us would be here at IL if it were.
THANK YOU though...I know I need to be reminded as often as possible that being happy really is a simple choice.
