profound insecurity and fear
strange that no one is giving me any sense of direction. this is all hopeless. what's the point of living in a world so profoundly shaped by suffering?

Waiting for Godot?
Posted February 13th, 2011 by Lincoln MerchantAre you healthy outside of the existential despair? Your mind cannot solve all these problems. Your mind is limited. You are not only your mind. You have a body, a heart, and a mind. Reasons and meanings are needs of the mind, just as vitamin C and calcium are needs of the body. Would you expect to eat the Ultimate Meal such that you never had to take in nutrients ever again? Why would you think that their was an Ultimate Reason for living? Neither the will to live nor the place where we blaze into existence is located in the mind. You must put the mind in its place.
Have you ever read the play Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett? Your comment reminded me of it.
or the great gas station scene in No Country for Old Men:
The video is here...especially the coin toss scene:
Anton Chigurh: What's the most you ever lost on a coin toss.
Gas Station Proprietor: Sir?
Anton Chigurh: The most. You ever lost. On a coin toss.
Gas Station Proprietor: I don't know. I couldn't say.
[Chigurh flips a quarter from the change on the counter and covers it with his hand]
Anton Chigurh: Call it.
Gas Station Proprietor: Call it?
Anton Chigurh: Yes.
Gas Station Proprietor: For what?
Anton Chigurh: Just call it.
Gas Station Proprietor: Well, we need to know what we're calling it for here.
Anton Chigurh: You need to call it. I can't call it for you. It wouldn't be fair.
Gas Station Proprietor: I didn't put nothin' up.
Anton Chigurh: Yes, you did. You've been putting it up your whole life you just didn't know it. You know what date is on this coin?
Gas Station Proprietor: No.
Anton Chigurh: 1958. It's been traveling twenty-two years to get here. And now it's here. And it's either heads or tails. And you have to say. Call it.
Gas Station Proprietor: Look, I need to know what I stand to win.
Anton Chigurh: Everything.
Gas Station Proprietor: How's that?
Anton Chigurh: You stand to win everything. Call it.
Gas Station Proprietor: Alright. Heads then.
[Chigurh removes his hand, revealing the coin is indeed heads]
Anton Chigurh: Well done.
[the gas station proprietor nervously takes the quarter with the small pile of change he's apparently won while Chigurh starts out]
Anton Chigurh: Don't put it in your pocket, sir. Don't put it in your pocket. It's your lucky quarter.
Gas Station Proprietor: Where do you want me to put it?
Anton Chigurh: Anywhere not in your pocket. Where it'll get mixed in with the others and become just a coin. Which it is.
[Chigurh leaves and the gas station proprietor stares at him as he walks out]

Are you having active suicidal thoughts or urges?
Posted February 13th, 2011 by Durwin FosterHey there: when I see a post like yours, I put my therapist hat on and want to reach out. Are you having thoughts of harming or killing yourself? If so, you need to get professional help ASAP. Don't rely on a chat network, however integrally informed they might be -- you need to see your physician, or a properly trained / certified counsellor or psychologist.
Does sound like a pleasant experience, at all. I am sorry that you are having to experience this.
Yours,
Durwin

Why Live?
Posted February 14th, 2011 by StanleyThis is a meaningful question if there ever was one I guess. There can be great suffering in life, this I can’t deny. And there is much life living on our green planet. To me that means that there must also be the opposite of suffering inherent in the very fabric of life.
I don’t really know what the word for this would be. So far the best words that come to mind are glory and beauty. I am not referring to a weak, cute, warm and fuzzy kind of beauty but something that is equally as strong, powerful and pervasive as suffering, but it’s opposite. I believe this is sometimes referred to as ananda. Let us trust that that is there as a part of us.

RED 40 is illegal as a food additive throughout the E.U.; and, is noted throughout the US for it's effect on behavior in children in the form of such drinks as Kool-Aid, fruit slices, certain M&Ms, twizzlers, jelly beans, fruity lollipops, gummi worms and bears, sprinkles, jolly ranchers, fruit twists, skittles, bubblegum, breathe mints, chiclets, trident, trident for kids, smarties, and tootsie-rolls
Red 40 can be found in many baked goods, from pies and cakes to cookies and even breads. Many pre-made vanilla frostings use a combination of Red40 and Yellow 5 to created a more "golden" look. Remember to read those labels!

yeah, thanks guys
Posted February 17th, 2011 by kbd2005i don't know. i just feel like i can't do this work anymore. i can't go on anymore. i'm not contemplating suicide but maybe praying that God or whatever kills that part that feels pain. thanks for all the advice. it helps to get some perspective. i don't have a direction right now and it feels like being lost in the woods with nothing and no one. i'd reach out to a therapist but i've dug myself into a hole financially and socially. i don't feel comfortable reaching out to people that don't read wilber or books like it (sounds odd). i don't know. i became very attached to wilber's work at a stage in my "development" where i needed construction. now i'm lost. completely lost and i have no one to turn to. i want an older person or the oldre generation in general to do something meaningful and give a direction to the generation below. but maybe this is a tall order and i should just stick to meditating, masturbation and trying to keep my paranoid ego from collapsing altogether into the Void of immeasurable nothingness. very confused. very paranoid. don't see the point of life in any meaningful capacity at all. and reaching out and not reaching out are both always wrong. i'm making a mistake no matter what i'm doing. thank you for the helpful advice. thank you for the space to share. than

Posted February 13th, 2011 by Ambo Suno"what's the point of living in a world so profoundly shaped by suffering? " Beats me. It wasn't our decision to be born, I believe, and we are making what we can of life, eh. Sorry it sucks so much sometimes. Yeah.
